Team Seaside Bad Weather is beating Team Wallace Family!
Hoping that 3rd times a charm, when ALL the Wallace crew comes to visit.
Ben was released from work prison (aka given a few days off), and to celebrate, we spent a night it Welches, at the base of Mt. Hood and then camped at Fort Stevens near Seaside, OR.

Mt. Hood was grand. The trees and the mountains were just what we needed. I think we could live in Welches...such a cool place. We drove up to Timberline Lodge to check out the snow and the Hood To Coast Relay Start (watch for that in August). Ben and I wanted to jump out of the car and go ski with the other cool kids on their boards and skis...oh, the joys!
It was nice to relax, go swimming, go on nature walks, and even a morning family run. After some more HTC relay leg driving, we headed to the Coast.

We were met with a complete cloud cover and some extremely dense fog...Boooo!

We are still learning though: You live in OR, so you live with rain.
A. LOT. OF. RAIN.
Make the best of it.

So....
Ben got his bacon fix with a chocolate covered maple bacon twinkie - or something nasty like that. We roamed around the downtown checking out the shops and making our "fun things to-do list" for the upcoming family reunion. Of course, Maria had her dose of the carousel. I got to be at the ocean (my request was Cannon Beach) and have some good fish. Yummy.
We hurried to the campground to set up camp before it started to rain TOO hard. Well it rained and rained and rained. It was kind of comical how ridiculous it was. I mean c'mon, July 15th and it is POURING RAIN!!! Ben and I couldn't even keep a fire burning and the sky was so covered in clouds that we couldn't even pretend to see any stars. In the morning, Ben said something like, "Well folks, that wasn't exactly what we had in mind." I started to laugh, kind of crazy-like, because it was so funny but we were both just so bugged and the whole weather thing. Still, tho, Oregon...it's what it is yo.

Maria had a great weekend. She got to run all over on the beach, pick up shells, chase the seagulls, eat treats for the Candy Store, eat oysters and fish, and sleep in her own "sleep bag." She also got scared in the tent a couple times, she started the car (on her own), and again was totally freaked out, and she told me to "Chill Out." Good times.Look at that sweet face! She would have stayed on the beach all day if we would have let her.
What a little sweetie!
