I am not 29 anymore...in fact I turned 33 last Friday.
I wasn't exactly looking forward to my birthday this year, because I don't really feel like I am back to my old self yet, and I have had (what I thought was only) a cough and possible cold...so yes, not really feeling 100% on my day.
I was pleasently surprised by the outpouring of love and bday wishes that came my way. I was especially impressed (and touched - that sounds like such an 'old person' word) by the generosity of new friends.
My friend (more like my adopted OR family member) came over early in the morning to watch Malan while I went with Maria to her Little Gym class. While I was gone, she cooked a lovely and delicious dinner for us and loved on Malan and her daughter Maddy even made a big picture for Maria. So lucky to have them!
Many for my good girl friends came over to bring practical and meaningful gifts, a blog book (Thanks C and E!), flowers, a bday cake (carrot- my fave!), oh, and a load of chocolate!!!
Two girls that Ben works with came over and spoiled us by giving Ben and me a break to take a walk while they watch M and M. They brought me 4 different choco/sugar treats and assured me that they were all 0 calorie! They even brought Maria gifts (they always do!).
I recieved lots of calls and text from 'home' and friends that I miss that I live far away from.
It was a good day for me. Helped me realize that I do have friends and I can be happy even living away from people that know it is my bday! (I know this all may sound silly, but these thoughts were going thru my head!)
