Friend Family Camping Trip 2012

We headed up the the Stake Camp - Camp Alpine - for the last weekend of Oregon summer.  We had a fun group of friends and it was a good time.

I love so many things about this picture.

 

This was good for Maria.  She can be quite timid with new things like this, and she wanted Eric (the fill-in Dad) to help her.  (Thanks E for meeting Maria's the fatherly needs while Ben was working.) Oh and PS, I love Maria's outfit, all 3 layers of it: underwear, swimsuit and blue shorty shorts.

Little Malan was the baby of the group.  She had just loaded her britches and I was getting her clean clothes here, which kept us from going on the wild (no joke, it really was) hay ride with everyone else.

I just love this picture of Sam. What a cool kid!  He was all determined to catch one of the dragonflies.

I headed up Thursday after dinner with Maria and Malan, figuring if I was setting up camp, I wanted to sleep there for two nights.  Overall, the girls were great. Really, I can't complain a bit. We slept well, once I got Maria to stop playing beauty parlor - no joke!  Malan was a crawler and quite liked eating dirt and pine needles and such. Ben made a pretty dang good chicken/potato BBQ dinner dish and egg/hashbrown breakfast dish in the dutch over too.  Ben was beyond exhausted the whole time he was there - can't blame him, BUT he is never too exhausted for an early morning mtn bike ride with Eric (good to have good riding buddies). We loved being outside in the woods and around a campfire and lake.  The kids had a grand ol time being crazy, playing house (in a tent or Volks Van), canoeing and enjoying the outdoors.  

*Oh, and I did bring and set up the 'camp kitchen' and it was worth it.
