Maria and I went to the Nutcracker in Ogden at the Egyptian Theater. We were able to go with all of the girl Wallace cousins (and Savannah's brothers too!), Aunt Mandy and Liz, Uncle Dan, Uncle Jer and Aunt Chris, Grandma Lesli and Great-grandma Pantone. Aunt Jill even brought some of her granddaughters.
Savannah was in the productions. She had several parts, and it was fun to see her and watch her dance.
Waiting for the show to start.
We took up quite a few seats.
After the show. Maria was so excited to see (and stand by) Savannah.
Our Star!
Savannah did great! During the beginning remarks from the producer and choreographer, they recognized a little girl named Emily Parker, that had been killed in the Newton, CT school shooting. Her parents are both from Ogden, and her cousin was in the Nutcracker production. The show was dedicated to her and all of the dancers had a little pink ribbon on their costume to recognize little Emily. They had a moment of silence and afterward, we saw her family, even her parents, who were in town to have funeral services and bury their little girl. Ben knew both of the parents, especially Robbie (the dad) from PA stuff and high school family friend, and was able to talk with them when he came to pick us up after the performance. It all gave me cause to reflect on my feelings about my family and our future. I am so grateful to have my girls, and to be able to make memories with them.
