Easter 2012

This year Easter was a little different. I don't have a little girl that I have to explain everything to - like how to run for eggs in a hunt or how to decorate eggs. I guess Maria knows how to run and find eggs, and how to sticker-ify Easter eggs like it was nobody's business.
My little girl, is growing up!

Maria was off as soon as they said "Go!" She didn't even look back to see if her Mom was still with her. I was literally chasing after her, trying to get a pic, and hoping to not shake Malan in the baby carrier.
She got her face painted with a butterfly that is purple and pink (of course).

Maria has been asking to decorate eggs and we finally did it on Saturday night (Easter Eve). Maria's favorite part was most definitely rolling the eggs and then putting stickers on them. It was serious work for her, and she was so proud of herself...showing me all of the stickers and the stories that she made up to go with them.

On Easter Sunday we postponed searching for eggs and 'opening' the Easter baskets until Ben could be with us. I asked Maria to please not peak or go looking for eggs until Dad got home. When Ben got home that afternoon, Maria informed him that he could not look for eggs or peak at the baskets. (I will remember that she does listen sometimes!)

Maria thought it was so "cute" to get a dress the same as her baby sister Malan. She kept holding Malan's dress up to her.
I hid eggs around the house and filled some of them with little sayings special for Maria. We read them to her and she just smiled so big. It mad me so happy to see her so happy.

I was impressed to hear Maria tell us about what Easter really means. She told us the story of the ToomB (said like it is spelled) and how Jesus was resurrected.
It is so sweet to see her little spirit shine.
