Lighting the Path with Luminaries

Christmas Eve 2012

Every year since I can remember, my family has made luminaries on Christmas Eve to 'light the path for the Christ Child.' This year was no different.  We were at the Pantone party and missed out on the drawing/decorating of the the bags, but we were able to admire them when we got home.  I went back outside after the girls were asleep to listen to the cold (really cold!) night air and walk through all of the luminaries.  It is a sweet and nostalgic feeling, but I found myself cracking up at some of the designs and sayings on the bags.

Colby made this one for Maria bc she says "Kissmas" instead of Christmas.

These are the real candles that burn all night and into the next day.

Eric bringing in the Japanese flavor.

I laughed at this one by Mark.
"Here you go you rotten child!!!"

Ry made this heli skiing one with the cool sunrise.
Get some [POWDER] this season.

No explanations needed.

Santa's little helper: the AMEX card.

The luminary tradition has morphed some over the years.  Some years we just laugh and make random bags, other times they are more traditional designs.
