Visitors, Visitors, and MORE Visitors!

We have been the lucky recipients of visitors from UT and NYC the last couple of weeks. Ben's Mom, sister Liz and her 3 kiddos came to visit, quickly followed by a steady stream of new visitors arriving over the next 3 days. My cousin Angela and her boyfriend Greg, along with my brother Eric and his wife Jessica, and then my brother Mark and his new lady Norma Jean.

Week One: Lesli, Liz, Bella, Evie and Benny Time

We did a lot of relaxing, slept in and the kids especially loved looking at all the animals in the "rain forest," as they termed our yard. It was common to hear, "Are there any deer?" "Do the deer have legs?" (said because they were all sitting in the yard and you couldn't see their legs.) We hit the beach (see previous post); went to Portland and visited the Zoo and Washington Park, Powell's Books (remember Lesli and Liz and super readers and lovers or literature, so they were in heaven!), the Waterfront Village, Rose Festival Starlight Run (I am doing it next year...with a costume!), danced in the streets to the performers (Maria, and her cousins can groove! and then loved doing it), and ended up even seeing the Rose Festival Starlight Parade because our car was in a parking garage surrounded by parade goers...and these are not your average parade and race spectators! I have not even seen events and city support like this. We left Portland after 10:30 pm, parents happy and smiling, kiddies zombie-like and exhausted. It was so fun for Maria to have little cousins to play with and they just loved her and each other so much. I loved watching Liz take care of her kids and listening to them ask her questions and learn from her. I will remember so much of this week. Thanks for coming to visit.

Week Two: Adults, Cousins and Sibs (and pup)
Ang and Greg arrived on the late night flight from NYC on Wednesday and brought me a box of cupcakes from Magnolia's Bakery! Oh, it was to-die-for! I looovveee this place...their rice pudding, their bread pudding, their cupcakes....oh sweet deliciousness! We visited Silver Creek Falls and hiked around in the rain, but it was beautiful. Eric and Jess arrived that night. We went to the beach the next day. Eric and Greg went 'surfing' in the morning to get ready for Greg to pop the big question!Yep, Ang and Greg got engaged on the beach in Newport, Oregon. Congratulations! It was a very memorable day for all. We ate at our favorite little cafe and then tooled around the town and harbor, watching/listening to the sea lions, then heading to the kite shop and back to the beach for hours of kite flying, and I am talking some serious kite flying! The crew went to Portland for more of the Rose Festival and was able to see the gardens and the Japanese Boat Races. They had a long day but packed it all in: Multnomah Falls, Powell's, Rose Festival, Pioneer Square, and lots of other things that I had never heard of! Mark met up with everyone in Portland and then made his way to Corvallis! We ate lots of good food and desserts, had fun hanging out and staying up late, sat back and watched the dog and Maria have a hay day with each other. One by one the visitors left, Mark and Norma stuck around til mid week, which was great. A house full of friends/family...nothing like it in the world!
