Halloween 2012

October 31, 2012

I took the girls downtown for the trick-or-treating.  I had no idea how popular this event was.  There were so many people and trick-or-treaters!  We met some of our friends and the kids had a great time and got quite a bit of candy. Maria seemed to always choose the old lady candy (like gross taffy or other old person-type treats, you know what I mean), and she even came away with some grapes - random.

This year the costume choices kept changing.
First Maria was set on being Hello Kitty and she wanted the rest of us to be HKs too.  I was not about to make 4 Hello Kitty costumes.
I told Maria that Malan was going to be a butterfly ballerina - because she had a little leotard perfect for it - which made Maria want to be the same thing.
Then, it was cold so I opted for the monster costume (which I "bought" at an auction in Relief Society at church), and Malan did her baby growling so it was perfect.

After trick-or-treating in town we ran home, girls rested up for the big late night in the car (Maria requested to have her blankie and sleep in her carseat, buckled in and everything - ok, I can do that) while I made cookies and stuff and then we headed to the Swensens for dinner and neighborhood festivities...becoming a fun tradition.

Maria ended up with just over SIX pounds of candy!
(I did take out a couple good treats and the play dough and pencils and tooth brushes (3!), and still it was SIX pounds!)
We took the candy to a local dentist who bought it back at a whopping 2 bucks a pound.
Maria got 6 gold dollars and 6 crisp bills.
She put 1/2 in the bank and is still "thinking about dat" when it comes to spending the other 1/2.
